Raising Money to Support an Active Student-Run Farm Program
The farm-to-fork fundraiser at Warren Tech was a night to remember!

Sunday evening, DC’s Lisa Langer and Aynslee Havenridge were able to experience the fruits of their labor as they humbly took part in the ACRES at Warren Tech fundraiser in Lakewood just outside Denver, Colorado. The fundraiser was created to connect the community to the programs the students at Warren Tech have been participating in. To continue the teachings of sustainability within agriculture, the fundraiser was focused on raising money for structures the students can then build themselves and learn the lost art of trade. Some of the structures that will be bought with proceeds from the event are items such as chicken coops, wind turbines and an outdoor kitchen, just to name a few.
Our design work in action
The sold-out evening consisted of students from the school educating guests on how they use the space that we helped design in 2016. Taking an approach similar to designing parks and schools we created spaces that are functional and benefit the program and community. The master plan allows the school to expand and improve their facility as their success continues.

The enchanting evening filled with bluegrass, mocktails and a four-course meal prepared by the students of Warren Tech with the very same food they have been able to produce from their facility.

So far this year, the students have already been able to build a new classroom structure due to the grant from GOCO Schoolyard Initiative and in-kind donations Warren Tech has received this year. Therefore, a big thank you to the lady behind all the magic that not only this evening held but for all the magic that is being felt at Warren Tech, Liz Hudd. Design Concepts has thoroughly enjoyed being able to collaborate with Liz while watching her vision for this farm turn into a reality for the students.
