Dayton Street - Streetscape
The City of Greenwood Village has a unique character throughout its community. In 1994, the City implemented a series of improvements not only to enhance the landscape, but also to give Greenwood Village an image that its citizens could identify with. Design Concepts worked closely with City staff and Advisory Groups to identify a palette of design guidelines and apply these to several miles of streetscaping in the heart of GWV. This includes sections of:
- El Gert
- Metro Sidewalk
- Holly
- Dayton
- Belleview
- Orchard
- University
- Autumn Hills
- Berry
- Union Ave.
- Cherry Creek Village North
- Greenwood Gardens
A total of more than 5 miles of streetscape has been addressed to date.
This process included public facilitation between City Council and scores of affected homeowners, as well as coordination with the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), Public Service Company, and others. In addition to the incorporation of prototype features such as signage, each segment presented its own unique challenges. Visual mitigation, sound attenuation, and harsh planting conditions were all addressed and successfully resolved. The end result formed a beautiful, unified theme throughout Greenwood Village.
