Bear Valley Tennis and Pickleball Courts
state-of-the-art court facilities | fully accessible | species diversity
updated court facility provides a resource to the community
The Bear Valley Tennis and Pickleball Court project replaces an aging tennis complex located in the existing Bear Valley Park. As the first Parks & Recreation project under the City of Denver’s 2017 Bond to get underway It was designed to provide an example for high quality court development using best practices for sustainability, accessibility, and creativity in design.
The City required a landscape architecture firm that could provide:
State-of-the-art tennis and pickleball court design.
Seamless integration of the latest standards for accessibility, sustainability, environmental sensitivity, water conservation and species diversity through extensive pollinator gardens.
A safer court complex that fit into the fabric of the existing park and encouraged socialization as well as athletic activities.
The updated court facility provides a resource to the community that is now fully accessible, better integrated into the existing park and provides improved wildlife habitat, while lowering the site’s overall water use. The courts are now well-used by the public and adding the pickleball courts to the project provides more opportunities for use by a more diverse demographic.
