Wheat Ridge, Colorado

A Premier Community Destination

Serving as the gateway to the regional Clear Creek Trail and Wheat Ridge greenbelt, the newly renovated Prospect Park is now a modern, accessible, and enjoyable space for our community. Funded by Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO), Jefferson County Open Space, and the Conservation Trust Fund (CTF), the two-phase renovations have transformed the park into a premier destination for recreation and leisure.

Park Features

Prospect Park now has an array of amenities designed to cater to visitors of all ages and abilities, including:

  • Two Ballfields

  • Six Lighted Pickleball Courts (visit the City’s page for more information about playing here)

  • Football Field

  • Two Playgrounds

  • Two Fishing Piers

  • 150-Person Pavilion

  • Accessible Restrooms

  • Permanent Cornhole Boards and Horseshoe Pits

  • Improved Pedestrian Circulation, Roads, Wayfinding, and Signage

Design and Accessibility

Our goal with this renovation project was to preserve the park’s natural beauty while enhancing accessibility and safety.

  • Floodplain Preservation: We carefully designed renovations to protect the floodplain associated with the adjacent Clear Creek.

  • Enhanced ADA Access: The park is now fully accessible, featuring organized circulation, clearly delineated pathways, and eliminating unsafe intersections. ADA parking and access points ensure that everyone can enjoy all areas of the park.

Community Impact

The Prospect Park renovation has provided an updated, user-friendly environment that encourages active lifestyles and community gathering. The park's layout and amenities make it a desirable destination for the nearly 45,000 residents and visitors who enjoy the park annually.
